ABSU votes for extension of ASUU strike by another one month

  The academic staff union of universities ASUU, Abia state University ABSU has vowed to continue strike action in case their demands are no met by the FG We gathered this at the union branch in a terse statement signed by the chairperson of the branch Nkendirim and secretary udom. The branch suggests that the strike should be rolled over if FG hasn't met to their demands by next week. This is ahead of the upcoming NEC meeting to be held next week .

UI receives NUC accreditation for 27 undergraduate programs

  The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 27 undergraduate programs across seven faculties at the University of Ibadan. This was contained in a letter signed by the office of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed to the institution's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale on Wednesday, May 4. The programs were approved after an accreditation exercise by the NUC in October/November 2021 and will last for the next five years. The fully accredited courses include German, Igbo, Linguistics, Music, Philosophy and Theatre Arts, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiology, Physiotherapy, and Environmental Health Science. Others are Computer Science and Geology, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Food Technology, Industrial and Production Engineering, Wood Products Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Early Childhood Education, Arabic Education, Economics Education, Islamic Studies; Health Education, and Human Kinetics.

ASUU distances self from lecturers partaking in elections

  The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has distanced itself from some of its members participating in the 2023 elections, saying they do not represent the union. According to ASUU, they had requested to partake in all the segments of the election, from the polling unit, collation, and announcement, but were turned down by the government, hence their reason for withdrawing from participating. The union president, Emmanual Osadoke who described the system as ''flawed'' said the union participated in elections during the era of Professor Jega Attahiru but decided to stop as a union because the election process was fraudulent. He also cited the cases of vice-chancellors who acted as Returning Officers in elections but have no influence whatsoever as they were only expected to announce results that have allegedly been written

2022 UTME candidates should locate their centres before exam day

  One thing you wouldn't like to happen on your exam day is being unable to locate your exam centre or arriving very late to the exam centre because you have been running around trying to locate it. For this reason, candidates taking part in the 2022 UTME are advised to locate their exam centres prior to the exam day as a crucial part of the exam preparation. Getting familiar with the directions to your centre will prevent panicking and stress on exam day.  Please ensure you print out your exam slip before May 6th. The JAMB Examination Slip is a detailed outline of your exam centre, subjects, and time of the exam. After re-printing your JAMB slip and seeing your centre, it is advisable to take a step further and locate your centre before the exam. Getting familiar with the directions to your centre will prevent panicking and stress on exam day.
