JAMB 2022 UTME Slip Printing - Monitoring Thread

  We have received a lot of questions concerning when the printing of the JAMB exam slip for UTME candidates would commence. At the moment, we understand the portal has been enabled BUT THE PRINTING OF EXAM SLIPS HAS NOT COMMENCED JAMB clearly indicated on the portal that candidates are not allowed to print their slips at the moment. Nevertheless, the printing of the exam slips will commence any moment from now. We are monitoring the situation and will let you know once it has fully commenced. We will use this thread to keep tabs on the situation. Please do let us know in the comment section of this publication once you are able to print yours or once you receive any official notification from JAMB in that regard

ASUU cannot dictate payment platform - Minister

  The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba has again stated that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is in no position to dictate to the Federal Government on what platform their salaries should be paid. The Minister said this while addressing journalists shortly after receiving the N100 million presidential nomination form of the APC purchased for him by the Project Nigeria Group. According to Nwajiuba, it was out of place for salary earners to direct their bosses on what it should do. He called on lecturers to address the issues on payment of their salaries within the ambit of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).  The minister said he was worried about the impact of the ASUU strike on the education of Nigerian students. He also appealed to the striking lecturers to return to the classroom as the Federal Government is working to address some of their concerns.

Ado poly to suspend students with cars, tattoos, colored hair, dreadlocks, others

  The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State has revealed that henceforth, students who are found with cars on campus will be suspended for one semester while the vehicle will also be impounded. This was contained in an internal memo signed by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs, Mrs. O.F. Ajayi.  The school also listed sanctions for a wide range of fashion choices common amongst students. It vowed to suspend students wearing tattered jeans; tattoos; nose, mouth, eye (extra) ring; intimate/open embrace (hugging) and ‘crazy’ hairstyles for men; earrings for men, cowries for women; among others. The school authorities also banned pregnant students and nursing mothers from bringing their babies to classrooms and hostels.  

Akwa Poly notice on registration for psychometrics studies for 2021/2022 session

  This is to remind Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic students (Full-Time and Part-Time/Evening programmes) offering GNS 106, GNS 206 and GNS 306 (Psychometrics Studies) that they are expected to have commenced registration with their devices at their time, space and convenience. All those affected should: * Login to IPCentre student portal @ ipcentreng.com * Pay Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Naira (N6, 250.00) only for registration and the cost of book. Present original and photostat copies of their printouts of registration (profile) and book payment receipts to the Psychometrics Studies Unit in order to collect their bAkwa Poly notice on registration for psychometrics studies for 2021/2022 session book.

Oyo state govt announces schools resumption date

  The Oyo state government has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state will resume the third term academic session on Thursday, May 5th, 2022. This was contained in a circular issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, A.B. Atete, on Tuesday, April 26. The Permanent Secretary urged all heads of schools to obey the directive as officials of the ministry would be deployed to enforce compliance with the directive.

ASUU strike: NANS commends Sanwo-Olu for keeping LASU, others running

  THE LEADERSHIP of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, South[1]West Zone, has commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for keeping the Lagos State University, LASU, and other tertiary institutions owned by the state running in the face of incessant strikes by university workers. The Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Stephen Tegbe, and the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Comrade Emmanuel Esiegbe, stated this in a press release made available to our correspodent. I’m really scared, BBNaija’s Laycon cries out over ASUU strike

  Former ‘Big Brother Naija Lockdown’ housemate, Olamilakan Agbeleshebiola, popularly called Laycon, has cried out over the prolonged strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. Laycon, who was condemning the fact that the government and politicians in the country were concentrating on elections despite the unending closure of universities, said he was really scared, wondering about the kind of government Nigeria had. The singer, who won the ‘BBNaija lockdown’ season five in 2020, and is currently the youth ambassador of Ogun State, took to his Twitter account via @itsLaycon on Monday, and said, “I’m scared ooo, I’m really scared. What kind of government is this !!! Universities are closed, they have been closed for months and this mandem are focused on elections alone.” Laycon also won the ‘Artist Of The Year’ at the 2020 “Naijatraffic Awards.” He is another artist who had also decried the strike action. 

UNIBEN student shares his frustrations with the incessant ASUU strike

 A disappointed student of the University of Benin has shared his frustrations with the incessant strikes embarked on by ASUU. According to the student, he gained admission in 2019, and despite spending 3 years in the university, he is still in his second year. The student compared his fate to that of his friend who is in a private university and is about to graduate despite the fact that they gained admission at the same time. The student said this has made him lose interest in furthering his education and wants to learn new skills and volunteer for jobs.

Kidnapped DELSU student regains freedom after ransom payment

  A final-year student of Delta State University who was kidnapped on Friday, April 22, in Abraka, in the Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State has been freed by his abductors after a ransom payment. The student identified as Chris Oghojafor, a Department of Industrial Chemistry was freed after the ransom, which was reduced to about N3m after being initially placed at N50m, was paid. According to the father of the abductee, Joseph Oghojafor Esq, Chris regained his freedom on Monday night, April 25, as he was released near Ugolo-Orogun by the railway in the Ughelli South LGA of the state. ASUU Strike: Lecturers Making Negotiation Difficult –Ngige

  The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige has blamed the Academic Staff Union of Universities for prolonging the strike in the country. The minister said the union had made negotiation difficult for both parties. Ngige disclosed this in a statement issued by Acting Head of Press and Public Relations, Patience Onuobia, in the ministry on Tuesday. The minister was reacting to the insinuations that he was responsible for the ongoing action by the union. Ngige however, said he had done what many could not do to forestall strikes by ASUU.   The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups has published the codes for examination malpractice and their interpretations as well as examination prohibited items in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). NB: Candidates are hereby informed that violation of any of the below codes will lead to their result been withheld by the board.  You are hereby informed that the board has provided a space on each candidates on – screen which candidates can’t see, but examiners can see them and can tag any of the below codes where necessary. If a candidate is guilty of any of the above offenses, all the examiner needs to do is enter any of the above codes on your on-screen question and that’s it. Your result will be withheld. If contested, JAMB may now request, and attach the CCTV footage to close the case.
